بيان صحفي بخصوص مباراة فلسطين والعراق

أصدر الاتحاد الفلسطيني لكرة القدم البيان التالي:

القدس- دائرة الإعلام بالاتحاد: 
تلقينا في الاتحاد الفلسطيني لكرة القدم، بأسف شديد قرار الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم، والاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم "فيفا" بعدم إمكانية إقامة مباراة فلسطين والعراق ضمن تصفيات كأس العالم 2026 على ملعب الشهيد فيصل الحسيني في القدس. 
ومن منطلق حقنا في استضافة المباريات الدولية على ملعبنا البيتي، فقد توجهنا في الاتحاد الفلسطيني بطلب إلى الاتحادين القاري والدولي، لإقامة المباراة على ملعب الشهيد فيصل الحسيني. 
وفي هذا الإطار، أرسل الاتحادان القاري والدولي خلال شهر شباط/ فبراير الجاري، مراقبا دوليا لتفقد الملعب، والاطلاع على الظروف في فلسطين، حيث تم التأكيد على جهوزية الملعب والاتحاد الفلسطيني لاستضافة المباراة. 
ونتيجة لهذه الزيارة، تلقينا رسالة من الاتحاد الآسيوي والفيفا، تؤكد على حقنا في استضافة المباراة على ملعبنا البيتي، بشرط موافقة الاتحاد العراقي لكرة القدم. 
إلا أننا فوجئنا بأن الأخوة في الاتحاد العراقي قد حسموا أمرهم برفض اللعب في فلسطين، وخاطبوا الاتحادين القاري والدولي بذلك دون الرجوع للاتحاد الفلسطيني، والذي كان معنيا بالوصول إلى تفاهم مع الأخوة في الاتحاد العراقي بشأن اللعب في فلسطين، والوصول لتفاهم للعب على ملعب محايد مريح للطرفين. 
ومن هذا المنطلق حاول الأمين العام للاتحاد الفلسطيني لكرة القدم في الأيام الماضية، التواصل مع الاتحاد العراقي بخصوص هذا الأمر، لكن دون أي رد من طرفهم. 
ورغم هذا القرار، فإننا نؤكد استمرارنا في جهودنا لاستعادة حقنا في الملعب البيتي، الذي ناضلنا كثيرا من أجل انتزاعه وتثبيته على مدى السنوات الماضية. وهو حق مشروع وأصيل لمنتخباتنا الوطنية وأنديتنا المحلية وجماهيرنا.

Press Statement

With deep regret, the Palestine Football Association (PFA) has received the decision of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA stating that the Palestine-Iraq match in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers cannot be held at Faisal Al-Husseini Stadium in Jerusalem.  

As part of our rightful claim to host international matches on our home ground, the PFA formally requested both the continental and international federations to hold the match at Faisal Al-Husseini Stadium.  

In this regard, earlier this February, the AFC and FIFA sent an international match commissioner to assess the stadium and review the conditions in Palestine. The visit confirmed that both the stadium and the PFA were fully prepared to host the match.  

Following this assessment, we received official correspondence from the AFC and FIFA affirming our right to host the match at our home stadium, provided we obtained the approval of the Iraqi Football Association.  

However, we were surprised to learn that our colleagues in the Iraqi Football Association had unilaterally decided to decline playing in Palestine and directly communicated this to the AFC and FIFA without consulting the PFA. This decision denied us the opportunity to reach a mutual understanding with the Iraqi Football Association regarding playing in Palestine or agreeing on a neutral venue suitable for both sides.  

In light of this, the PFA’s General Secretary attempted to contact the Iraqi Football Association in the past few days to discuss the matter but received no response.  

Despite this decision, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to reclaiming our right to host matches on our home soil— a right we have fought tirelessly to secure and uphold over the years. It remains a legitimate and fundamental entitlement for our national teams, local clubs, and passionate supporters.
